Youth in Rwamagana district vows to fight against corruption

The youth from Rwamagana district are determined to fight against corruption and injustice where they teach young children in schools to explain the dangers of corruption and also help those who have problems of injustice to bring them to the level of the ombudsman. While Rwanda ranks 49th in the world in fighting corruption, the Office of the Ombudsman says that there is a goal that in 2050, Rwanda will be the first to fight corruption.

The youth from Rwamagana district are determined to fight corruption and injustice through young children in school about the consequences of corruption and help those with issues of injustice report to the ombudsman office. Rwanda ranks the 49th country in the world in fighting against corruption, the ombudsman office says that it’s a goal to rank the first by 2050.

In an interview with Isango Star, Mrs Georgine MUKAKARANGWA said: “As youths, we must put in more effort to fight corruption. We are the hope for the future of Rwanda. We have to teach certain people, we go to schools and teach lessons depending on what we learn from our superiors."

Madam Cecile MUGOREWICYEZA, “You to tell a child about corruption, he may grow up in a corrupt environment either at school, a student may and plead to be helped for exams cheating, that is also bribery. We tell them that corruption may start at an early age."

Tuyisenge Hamilcar Fidele; The director of Club Umuhuza, which collaborates with some of the youth in the Rwamagana district, to fight corruption, says they fight corruption through sports for the youth and adults to be able to prevent it"

Club Umuhuza has been operational for 10 years, fighting against corruption. Currently, it consists of 188 members, based in the Rwamagana district.
