Ngendahimana who testifies has already understood the principles of equality and harmony, saying that it has helped his family.

“I always thought that a man should not be equal to a woman. However, after being taught I understood that men and women are equal, we are one. And our whole family is equal, no problem, “he said.

He says that before, he did not value his wife because he felt that they were not different, he deprived her of the right to the family property, and sexually harassed her [emotionally]. Even though he was doing all this, he testified that he heard them talking about the principle of equality but he ignored it.

“I heard it, but I disrespect a law and look it! “He stated.

Ngendahimana testifies that he cooperates with his wife, Mrs. Mukankusi Josiane, in everything and it has brought stability and peace to the family.

On her part, Mrs. Mukankusi says although she was abused, she did not notice it until they were trained by the Rwanda Women's Network.

“I immediately realized that I have to agree with my husband and live together safely. I learned about harmony and equality, that I have to converse with my husband, and that we complement each other in all things at home. You feel like a man who takes all the money and is going to drink it, you and the children are being famished day and night, and he took the things we worked together. Then you would say something, 'This is not belonging to your father!'You comprehend that we were lonely!" she said.

“We had furious violence; of the body, in emotionally, about the property... do you know where we came from? We came from far! ”she added.

Mrs. Mukankusi thanks the Rwanda Women's Network for making her reconcile with her husband, and he no longer wastes the money.

She says the conflict they lived in caused them to live badly, children drop out of school due to lack of ability. Mrs. Mukankusi believes all this has become history because now health insurance called 'mituelle de santé' is still given on time.

Due to his husband's change, Mrs. Mukankusi also says that she is now allowed to trade which was not allowed to do at that time, and her husband who entered the house like an animal, is left to enter with kindness, greeting everyone.
