May 15, 2024 - 17:47
The users of the Mukoni-Nyakibanda Nyagisozi road request that the part of it that is not covered with tarmac should also be constructed to facilitate movement. Huye District authorities say that the study to construct that portion of the road has been done, and now there is a need for a budget of more than 13 billion to resume the work.

This road starts from Mukoni, goes through Mpare- continues to Nyakibanda up to Nyaruguru District but passes through Nyagisozi Sector, flows through the tarmac road from Nyaruguru district and meets in Huye to Akanyaru border.
However, the Nyaruguru district administration only constructed the part within the district, leaving the other part on the side of the Huye district. Huye residents who expected the road to be fully constructed expressed frustration.

In an interview with Isango Star, Mrs. Susan MUKABARISA said “About the consequences, for example, I have monthly appointments at CHUB hospital it is expensive due to transport means. The motorcycle fare is 2500frw to 3000frw, but when you leave late in the evening, you pay 3000frw or 3500frw”.
The construction of this road doesn't only bother those in Huye District as accidents often occur in the section that needs widening. This poses a risk to travelers, prompting them to seek alternative routes.

Ange SEBUTEGE, the mayor of Huye District, explains that the budget for this road project has been allocated. He emphasizes that it requires amounting to 13 billion Rwandan francs.
He said, “A study was done since when the road constructed leading to Mukoni. The budget needed is more than 13 billion Rwandan francs. What we are doing is finding that budget, in collaboration with RTDA, the Ministry of Finance and Planning, and the Ministry of Local Government. the budget will be found for the construction of the remaining part”
From Huye City to Gishamvu, specifically Nyakibanda where the road ends at the bridge that divides Huye District with Nyaruguru, there is 23 km and the Nyagisozi part covers a distance of 11 km.
Residents request that when the road is completed, it should facilitate movement.
