
Nyagatre: The youth were asked to do practical activities that change the lives of the people

The administration of Nyagatare District in collaboration with the National Youth Council encouraged the youth to participate in activities that change the lives of the people, including helping the survivors of the Genocide against the Tutsis who are helpless, having a culture of volunteering and teaching their peers to avoid premature pregnancies.

This was announced on Friday, April 19, 2024, when the month dedicated to youth activities in Nyagatare District was launched under the theme "Youth brings change."
The Coordinator of the National Youth Council in Nyagatare District Katurebe Moses said that they organized these activities to mobilize the youth to participate in activities that develop the country.
He said, "Youth is one of the categories of people in the country, so we represent them and we have the responsibility to organize activities to make it visible. In the first week, we will help the survivors of the Genocide against the Tutsis, and in the second week, we will increase the number of volunteers because the government wants to increase them."
The Deputy Mayor of Nyagatare District in charge of social welfare, Madam Murekatete Juliet, asked the youth to take concrete actions aimed at improving the welfare of the people, but in particular, they should take care of the survivors of the Genocide against the Tutsi in 1994.
She said, "We have united youths who collaborate with other agencies to work together and carry out the activities that will be practical activities that develop the District, but especially to change the lives of the citizens and survivors of the Genocide against Tutsis who are helpless and give them good hope for the future."
Some of the youths in the Rwimiyaga Sector, at the beginning of the month dedicated to youth activities, have already benefited from voluntary activities aimed at changing the lives of the people.
Miss Tuyishime Denise says that they hold meetings every Wednesday and Friday in their cells and are encouraged to do voluntary work as a community for the underprivileged to do it because it improves the country.
Nyagatare District has 177,981 youth, among them there are 43,269 volunteers and more than 5,600 who are in charge from Cell to District.
