
Iconic Journalist Jean Lambert Gatare Dies in India: A Legacy Remembered

The heartbreaking news of the death of the late Jean Lambert Gatare was known early hours of Saturday, March 22, 2025, when the legendary journalist passed away while in India for medical treatment.

This Monday morning 24th March, the family and friends of the late Jean Lambert Gatare went to Kigali International Airport to receive his body, which had been brought back to Rwanda.
Jean Lambert Gatare's body was taken to the Kacyiru Hospital mortuary as preparations for his burial are underway.
Gatare was widely known for his work at Radio Rwanda, where he served as the station's correspondent in Arusha, Tanzania, during the trials of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda.
After leaving Arusha, he continued his career in sports broadcasting, winning the hearts of many with his exceptional skills in football commentary
At Radio Rwanda, besides working in sports, Jean Lambert Gatare also contributed to the news department.
He left the national radio station in 2011 and moved to Isango Star, where he was appointed as the station’s manager.
Since 2020, Gatare had been the chief editor of Rushyashya newspaper, taking over from Burasa John, the founder of the publication.
His legacy will forever live on.
