Men play an important role in strengthening the principle of equality and harmony because their behavior has a positive or negative impact on the family and society in general. In resolving the conflict that threatens the family, Munyaneza, who was living in conflict with his wife, Mrs. Uwamahoro Sifa, stated that the time he spent and the benefits he got from the training he received made him determined to help families in conflict.

Munyaneza confirms that not understanding how couples should complement each other makes men hurt their wives. They do not consult with them about what they should improve and what else they can do, resulting in conflict.

He decided to help families in conflict after being trained by Aegis Trust and seeing the benefits it brought him, especially since he was once knocked on the prison door for abusing his wife, Mrs.Uwamahoro, who suffered head and eye injuries.

"We went to RIB, and instead of jailing me, they mediated for us and we were able to go back home. A few days ago, we were invited to train at Rwibutso [Kigali Genocide Memorial], and this training helped me a lot. I felt decided, then stopped fighting and decided to move... now things have been going well. Since we moved, I've never hit my wife or said bad things to her."

"Things continued to go well. Getting out of conflict due to the success of the training motivated me even more to persuade others that building a home is not about playing, fighting, or misbehaving."

Identifying the members of those families, Munyaneza stated he was assisted by people who showed him the members of those families, and he followed them until he found where they lived.

"If a woman passes by, I hear someone say, 'Oh, that woman is tired!' So, I ask about her, follow her, and talk to her until I find out where she lives. This helps me to get to know her husband, to talk to him, and to share with him my experiences. I often find that the reasons for their conflict are much simpler than mine. And I told him when you arrive home, do like this, do something else, and he kept doing it, so they gradually changed. I both understand their mistakes and show them what they are doing," Munyaneza explained how he found conflicted families using an example.

“Some men have given up alcohol altogether! Now five families are living peacefully and they came to thank me. Another four are in the process of changing, the others are still in the beginning, “he added.

"I've been through a lot, building a home requires setting an example for others," Munyaneza shared.

Munyaneza expressed that his love for children is what motivates him to show mercy to those in conflicted families, and he takes pride in his role of helping families live in peace. He added that he doesn't face any special obstacles in his efforts to mediate between the couples of those families.

Mrs. Uwamahoro mentioned that her husband's transformation has also influenced others, emphasizing the importance of men valuing their spouses.

"The lessons he took at the Aegis Trust helped him. It was only after we moved that those who were behind our conflict realized they didn't get what they wanted and tried to imprison him through our houseworker. After being imprisoned, he learned a lot because even in prison, there were things that helped him change," she disclosed.

She testified that he began his journey to help others by assisting a man who had been imprisoned for abusing his wife. This man, who lives in Gisozi, Gasabo District, also Munyaneza helped him to reconcile with his wife and resolve the conflict, now they live peacefully.

She highlighted that maintaining a safe family requires listening, understanding, staying calm, and praying, because today the devil is targeting families.
