Some traders operating in the Nyabugogo bus terminal are concerned about where they will be relocated when the expansion works begin. The Kigali City authorities say they have spoken with all those who have businesses there, and those who have missed out should reach out to the city administration.

Those with businesses in the Nyabugogo bus terminal, which is set to be renovated, are requesting that they be provided with a new location for their activities when the renovation starts.
George GASIRABO said: 'The main challenge I see here at the terminal is that we don't have a place to move our operations, and we don't know where they will relocate us. We are asking for assistance to be shown where we will be able to work.'
He further added: 'Challenges are inevitable because we had existing customers here, and now they will move us without knowing where we will go. We are waiting to see where they will relocate us. They should find a suitable place for us, either collectively for all traders or look for a place that is convenient for us'
'The first challenge we will face is finding a place to relocate our activities. The terminal will be closed and rebuilt. We are asking that if they plan to relocate the terminal, they also plan for the people working there, as we are their partners. We hope they will prepare a place for us so that our businesses do not come to a halt.'"
Emma Claudine Ntirenganya, the Director of Communication and Education for Kigali City, states that considerations are being made for those affected and those who face challenges are encouraged to reach out to Kigali City for assistance.
She said: "They have also been considered. Last week, we invited all the companies operating passenger transport in the different bus terminals, as well as those with stations near Nyabugogo, and we also invited the traders and garage owners in Nyabugogo. We will not overlook them because they are directly affected by this project."
"What we want as Rwandans is to have a bus terminal that matches our vision. However, we have arranged so that those relocating will do so according to the vision. For instance, terminals going north will be grouped, those going east will be grouped, and those going south will be grouped. We have considered all these factors, she added.
The expansion of the Nyabugogo bus terminal is expected to begin in mid-2025 and conclude in 2027. The expansion aims to speed up travel and introduce more essential services, including those currently unavailable, as announced by the Kigali City administration.
