In an interview with Isango Star she said “I’m not afraid because there is no problem, the baboon has disappeared”.
On Thursday 22nd June 2023 the atmosphere among locals was good, there are some people who were talking about the animal having not set sight on it, hence inflicting more fear among people but now they are safe.
Another resident had this to say “the atmosphere is now good, the baboon has gone, in fact it threatened people but it has gone, more importantly, is that both local and security authorities comforted us ”.
Another one said “The authorities searched for it and did not find it, it is not there, we haven’t heard about it lately….”

Superintendent of Police (SP) Alex Ndayisenga in charge of coordinating police activities with the community in Northern Province, said that the police has implored more efforts in search for the beast. He urged the residents to stay calm and avoid false information about the animal as their security is assured.
“Based on the information from people, it is true that it was visible in the community but did not abuse any person as it was earlier reported ,in fact we kept searching for it but what we realized is that the animal returned to the forest ….”
What we can tell you is to avoid rumours, the safety of animals which live in Volcano Park is guaranteed”
Nonetheless, the mayor of Musanze district said the baboon only injured some people, and the victim got injured while fleeing away ,likewise, those whose fields were damaged should fulfill the requirements to be compensated by the government fund in charge for that..

So ,today we don’t know its whereabouts but it was seen ,some residents saw it and gave information ,in fact some people are afraid due to the reports that followed its appearance most of them being rumours which induced fear among some locals.”
"All I can say it is that it’s now a week it has not been visible, we don’t know whether it is still in Musanze district or somewhere else.”
