Mrs. Nadia Umutoni, one of the youth volunteers, said “Youths have set the objective to collaborate with the government through various campaigns to fight against drugs”.

Her colleagues called Mrs.  Adeline Muhoza, and Mr. Nahimana Adheree are determined to call upon their peers to stop the use of drugs and show them the consequences.

The mayor of Kayonza district, Mr. NYEMEZI John Bosco reiterated that among the strategies the leaders have taken is to help the youth find jobs for self-development hence avoid drug abuse and encourage those who take alcohol to stop.

Statistics from a 2011 study show that 52.5% of youths drink alcohol and use drugs, according to CARAES NDERA report released in 2021 showed that most of the patients have been admitted to the hospital due to the use of drugs and alcoholism.

This is proof that everyone must fight drug abuse among the youth.
