The lack of sufficient doctors at the Ndego Health Center affects those seeking treatment there

Residents of Ndego Sector in KAYONZA district say that their health center does not have enough nurses so getting medical services requires them to go there more than three times, and sometimes they don't get treated. They request that the number of nurses at the health centre be increased, as they have repeatedly asked. The administration of Kayonza District acknowledges that there is a staffing gap in the health sector but assures residents that efforts are being made to address the issue.

Residents of Ndego Sector in Kayonza District report that they face significant challenges as those who go for medical treatment often return home without receiving services, requiring them to make repeated visits without being treated. They also mention that mothers cannot find midwives, and those taking their children for vaccinations spend the entire day without getting vaccinated, sometimes losing motivation to return as they believe they won't find doctors anyway.

Mrs.Gerarldinesaid, "We don't have enough nurses because when someone goes there, they can't find a doctor to help them. You can go there, sit and wait for a nurse, and eventually leave without being attended to. For example, with vaccinations, there are times when a mother who went for vaccination in the morning leaves at 6 or 7 PM."

Claudette GASHUMBA said: "We have a problem that a person can go to the doctor for three days without receiving a service. Even a mother who is about to give birth can go without care because there is a nurse who can come and work during the day and at night."

The people are asking for help and their health centre will be provided with enough doctors who will provide fast services because they need to go there more than three times for treatment.

One said: "We want you to advocate for us and see doctors here at the health centre in the Ndego sector."

The Mayor of Kayonza, Nyemazi John Bosco, also believes that the number of workers in the health sector is young and the management knows it.  However, he says that there is work to be done so that the shortage of doctors will be addressed, and the people will have access to good medical services.
