Women say that their spouses are influenced by pornographic videos they watch on phones and forcefully apply what they see without mutual consent. This abuse is not often discussed about, as some women and men do not understand how a man can rape his own wife, however, women from Nyaruguru district are determined to put the truth to the open.

These women also s pointed out that there are even some who quit their households because of being deprived of their rights
In an interview with Rukundo Emmanuel, reporter of Isango Star in the southern province, one said: “Even in Nyaruguru, men go out and watch porno videos and when they get home that's what they want to do, they don't want discussion about that, instead force you for sexual intercourse’’.
Another said:” If you refuse, he will beat you! The people who come for intervention asking what’s going on here, as a woman I fear revealing the matter, this creates endless conflicts, there is a constant misunderstanding, the issue is never resolved’’
These women also pointed out that there are even some who quit their households because of being deprived of their rights, One said’’ to a woman, it even reaches the extent of divorcing because of sexual issues ‘’.
Another one said there are conflicts in my household, they sexually abuse us because there is no mutual consent for sexual intercourse, you’re forced for sex, may husband abuses me sexually, he abuses me sexually’’.
‘’Here in Nyaruguru men look into phones, he tells you to bend over for doggy style, then you refuse, you can’t accept ...you can’t allow, you’re are not an animal, then you start fighting,it also happens to me’’ refusing results into conflicts, the husband may beat you..’’.
Women wish for a special campaign against sexual violence which deprives them of right to sexual intercourse decision because it is common among married couples.
They say that sexual violence happens more often among married couples with better financial status as they can afford to buy internet bundles.
On the side of men, however, they don’t deny the accusations. One said women are not lying, it’s true, they are abused sexually there is a man who can watch pornographic videos about how doggy style is made if he decides to do that with the wife, it can be an issue’’
Brother Wellars in charge of the program for the fight against gender-based violence in PROFEMMES TWESEHAMWE said that there are such cases.
He ’’ We also face such cases, those pictures, porn videos, a man wants to go and practice what he has watched yet his partner is not familiar with that or has not consented to that, also results into conflicts or physical violence’’.
He said that they are ready to fight violence by using curricular which teaches that to people including those from Nyaruguru district.
Wellars said’’ I would say that those are consequences of development, but we are also ready to fight against that as we have that in the curricular with a clear message, we should do what is best for our us not what will destroy families’’
Umutoni Aline, the Managing Director in charge of family promotion and child protection in MIGEPROF, said that though there are some good families, there are also others where the problems highlighted still exist, she stressed that it requires to join efforts in order to eradicate them.
Another one said’’ There are some good families but there are others who are still in the dark doing some things that violate the rights of a member of the family, whether female or male, however, when you reveal the problem, then the solution will be found’’
Human rights organizations manifest that sexual intercourse between married couples both men and women have equal rights, therefore it should be done in harmony by mutual respect and everyone has the right to decide how it should be done.
Mental health experts report shows that unless measures are taken, apart from gender-based violence which further destabilizes women, they would give birth to children with mental illness and the number will rise to 20.5%, this also affects the development of the country as no one can serve the nation with hereditary diseases.
