While May, is a month dedicated to work, local authorities call on the private sector to be involved in resolving conflicts among the workers and any other hindrance that might prevent productivity.

Emmy Ngabonziza, the chief human resources officer of Nyarugenge District, says, "The contribution of workers is an irreplaceable contribution, they often assign them with duties in various companies it would be good to have a large number of employees who can help each other as they live with them on the daily basis".

They have already shown this where leadership is supportive and collaborates with them, increasing their value in what they do. This increases their efforts and results in harmony in the workplace. We encourage them to see how those they work with fare in their roles."

Bisangwana Leon Pierre, an employee at PSF in charge of the medical department, says that for some of the activities, the private sector should appoint a representative in case the Managing Director is absent.

He said, "In the same program we have in common with the unions and the Ministry of Public Employees and Labor, there are activities planned for us, there are specific ones and those aimed at helping to resolve conflicts at work, in that program we encourage discussions between workers and employers. The employer gives time to his employees to discuss and the discussions are successful, there is a situation where the employer gives time for the employees to choose who represents them, for benefits of both parties"

Some of those interviewed by Isango Star say that many workplace issues or disputes arise either during or after work, which affects their productivity.

Mrs. Solange NYIRAHABINEZA said "Having a mediator can help resolve work-related issues effectively. When employees engage in conflicts, if they can express their problem and then discuss it with each other, they can return to work and perform well so that tasks are executed effectively."

The Ministry of Public Service and Labor encourages both employers and employees to prioritize dialogues between them to ensure productivity and good service delivery. Additionally, they aim to prevent conflicts from escalating into more serious issues.
