
RWAMAGANA: Women and girls working in the tailoring profession are required to use technology

Women and girls who work as tailors in Rwamagana district are required to use technology and discover how to sew modern clothes as this will help develop themselves and be able to compete with others on the labour market.

Women residing in Rwamagana district, have been urged to take advantage of opportunities given by the government through access to technology and be able to discover innovations, hence developing themselves and the country at large, when a woman progresses, her family progresses too, said Mrs. Odette UWAMARIYA, member of parliament.
‘’We have used technology methods established by the government which is even increasing to distribute modern phones to citizens, those handsets have a lot of options but we don’t take advantage to use them all", she added.
When you’re working you can be able to do other things because of technology whether it’s yourself or your husband or any family member’’. She revealed.
To use technology and change their lives and the country at large, girls who have been made pregnant and gave birth while living with families and those who did not have the opportunity to continue school in RWAMAGANA district after being trained for tailoring profession, and MFURA FOUNDATION provided them sewing machines, they pointed out that they will use technology to discover innovation for sewing modern clothes.
The mayor of Rwamagana district MBONYUMUVUNYI Radjab urged those who were given sewing machines to develop the culture of using technology in their tailoring activities as it is more efficient in producing better quality and faster.
He said’’ We will not sew traditional clothes only, or the way we dress up, we encourage them to use the internet to discover the latest popular trends so that what they sew can be sold more, those who own handsets can be shown how to access the internet and look at the latest clothes or latest styles of tailoring ‘’.
To continue helping women to develop themselves, with the use of technology in Rwamagana district, 73 single mothers( girls who gave birth while living with their families) were given sewing machines, to offer more support for development, five women from Nyakariro sector, were offered a sum of 100.000frw.
