On August 11, President Paul Kagame was sworn in to continue leading Rwanda for a new 5-year term, which will end in 2029. After taking the oath for the fourth time, President Kagame told Rwandans that this term marks the beginning of achieving even more and that reaching these goals is not a mere dream.
He said, "This new term is the beginning of doing more to achieve our goals. Why should we settle for what we have already done? Thinking about it is not dreaming; it is possible and it will be possible."
Citizens believe that in these five years, they can achieve much based on the progress made during the previous term. They have pledged their continued support.
One person said, "In these five years, we elected him with the hope that our country will become a paradise considering how far it has come. That is why we elected him, as words align with deeds."
Political analysts agree that one of the key tasks for the upcoming 5-year term will be to continue improving international relations.
Ismael Buchanan said, "In this 5-year term, what needs to be done is to continue expanding international relations, with Rwandan embassies being opened in all foreign countries and foreign countries opening their embassies in Rwanda. I firmly believe that these efforts will continue, and in this 5-year term, we can expect many good things as His Excellency the President of the Republic promised in his speech to Rwandans."
President Paul Kagame was sworn in to lead Rwanda after winning the elections held in July this year, with 99.18% of the votes. This is his fourth term following those of 2003, 2010, and the term of 2017. This term will last 5 years, while the previous 3 terms each lasted 7 years.
