This was emphasized on Saturday, March 11TH 2023 when PAN AFRICAN MOVEMENT -RWANDA celebrated women’s day.
During the forum which focused on technology and innovation, Dr. Emmanuel NZEYIMANA the Deputy Director General of DOT pointed out that the world today is led by technology.
He said: "We have 433 million women who don't use technology.
“This means that they are unable to access information, they don’t acquire skills, technology should be used for a purpose but also change their lives," he stressed.

He noted that if women and girls continue to be marginalized, the development will be difficult to achieve.
"We need tech. We have reached the stage where you don’t need to go to the office to work, Instead, you can work from home. "Do people have the required knowledge to do it perfectly?”
BAYINGANA Sifa Serafina, one of the members of the Pan African Movement-Rwanda said that there is no development at all if both women and girls are marginalized.
She cited the example of Rwanda, where the country continues to develop due to its support for women and girls.
"Gender equality is the foundation of sustainable development. It's like prioritizing technology, climate change, etc." She said.
Bernadette MUNYANA in charge of women's development in the ministry of gender and family promotion said that specific efforts should be made to educate women and girls, with enough knowledge to exploit the opportunities available in technology.
"I want us to increase the knowledge of women from the countryside, not to go for technology for phone calls, to send messages, and other basic skills, but to find out how foreign entrepreneur who produces what we also produce does that! What has he achieved?
Fatimata Inorene, from Mali, said that during the COVID-19 era, there has been a significant increase in the importance of technology, especially for girls and women.
She said that as a parent who works in education, girls who are being helped with electronic devices have returned to school with more benefits than their colleagues who did not have access to technology.

Dr. Ismael Buchanan; The Pan African Movement-Rwanda Commissioner stressed that the introduction of women and girls to technology is not a matter of debate, but a part of the organization's efforts.
He said that you can not develop if you marginalize a certain class of the community.

According to the World Bank, 30% of Africa's internet users accounted for 19% of the population in 2020, compared to 86% in reach countries.
Last year, according to the International Institutes of Internet Use, African women were 30% more likely to have access to mobile phones than men.
