The launch of this smartphone marks another step in MTN Rwanda’s drive to make smartphones more accessible as demand for digital services continues to grow across the country. The SMART 20 will be sold through all MTN Shops and Y’ello Shops nationwide, while customers can also acquire it via the “Tunga Taci na Y’ello” financing program, allowing them to pay in installments instead of purchasing the device outright.
The smartphone combines affordability with performance-focused features, including a 5200mAh battery, a 120Hz 6.78-inch display, and a MediaTek Helio G81 processor aimed at supporting smooth multitasking and extended daily use. Buyers will also receive free monthly bonuses for three months, including 15GB of internet data, 300 voice-call minutes, and 300 SMS.

Beyond performance, MTN RWANDA revealed the SMART 20 was built to handle everyday conditions, featuring IP64 water resistance and protection against drops of up to 1.5 meters. The device also introduces Voiceprint Noise Reduction technology for clearer calls in noisy environments and UltraLink capability, which allows offline communication within a one-kilometer range.
Somdev Sen, Chief Consumer and Digital Officer at MTN Rwanda, said the partnership focuses on helping more Rwandans access reliable smartphones through convenient purchasing options.
He noted that expanding availability through MTN’s retail network and the installment-based financing model responds directly to how customers want to stay connected in an increasingly digital world.

Gilbert Bizimana, Marketing Manager for Infinix, described the SMART 20 as a practical and affordable device suited for modern communication needs, highlighting its long battery life, durability, and noise-cancellation technology.
The partnership between MTN Rwanda and Infinix comes as smartphone adoption continues to play a critical role in how people work, study, and access online services, reinforcing efforts to bridge the gap between connectivity and opportunity in Rwanda.
